§ 17-110. Fire department access.

  • (a)

    All premises which the fire department may be called upon to protect in case of fire and which are not readily accessible from public streets shall be provided with access routes and fire lanes so that all buildings on the premises are accessible to fire department apparatus. Such access routes and fire lanes shall be designated by the fire marshal of the bureau of fire prevention when in his judgment they are necessary for effective firefighting operations.

    (b)

    Parking of motor vehicles or otherwise obstructing fire lanes shall be prohibited at all times. Any owner of property designated as a fire lane who fails to post such signs and keep such lanes cleared of parked motor vehicles and other obstructions shall be in violation of this chapter. Any person parking a vehicle in a properly designated fire lane shall be punished as provided in section 27-63.
